How to Advertise

Choose the business category and town, and then choose the month(s) that you would like your advert to appear. There are a maximum of three adverts per business category (space) per town that will be published in any month ranked by highest bid, thus minimising competition for your services, unlike other directories that "list" all subscribers.

If you choose a "space" that has no current "bids" then your advert will be free of charge. If another business then decides to advertise in that space then they would bid 1 token and move above you in the list for one of the three adverts in that space. Therefore two other businesses could bid 1 token and 2 tokens and your advert will still appear and be free. Only when a third other business adds their bid of 3 tokens would you be knocked off the list and your advert would not appear.

When any "bids" are placed in a space upon which you have bid, you are notified by e-mail in order to allow you to "up" your bid if required. You can enter "maximum" bids e.g. 10 token maximum bid for "Web Design", "Leeds" in "May 2009", this means that if there is a bidding war then the system would automatically bid for you up to a maximum of 10 tokens for your advert in that that space. You will still be notified if bids go above yours allowing you to increase further if you so wish.

You will not be allowed to have more than one free advert per month e.g. if you wanted "Web Design", "Leeds" in "May 2009", and "Web Design", "Bradford" in "May 2009", then your second insertion would demand that you bid at least 1 token.

How to Pay for Advertising

You pay for advertising by buying advertising "tokens"; minimum spend is £10 + VAT. When you "bid" tokens are allocated to those bids. If your bid is successful and your advert is published, then the tokens are removed from your account. If you are out-bid and your advert does not appear, then your bid is expired and no tokens are removed from your account.

You can not bid more than the available amount of tokens in your account.
